The Margeride en Gévaudan Tourism Office has 3 Tourist Information Centers (BIT), which welcome you throughout the year in the three main towns of the area. Let our team help you discover Margeride and stock up on good ideas for your stay!

In The Malzieu-Ville

Located in the Tour de Bodon, at the gates of the medieval town, the BIT du Malzieu-Ville welcomes you :

  • From april to june : 09:00AM – 12:00PM and 02:00PM to 06:00PM monday through saturday;
  • November through march : 09:00AM – 12:00PM and 02:00PM to 05:00PM, monday through friday;
  • In july and august : 09:00AM – 12:30PM and 02:00PM to 07:00PM, monday through saturday and 09:00AM – 12:30PM on sunday.

The shop offers hiking booklets, local products and a beautiful bibliography on local history, as well as souvenirs and books on the Beast of Gévaudan. You can also rent Via Ferrata equipment (15 € for half a day) and buy the historical circuits of the village. A free WIFI area is also available if you need to get online.

The large exhibition room on the first floor is worth a visit. Indeed, you’ll find a gorgeous and original architecture there… But of course, you’ll also discover exhibitions of local artists.

And last but not least, do visit the Tour de Bodon, which can be accessed from the T.I.C. and then the exhibition room, by means of a magnificent circular stone staircase. Once at the top, you will enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree view (1 € for adults).

In Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole

Nestling on the heights of the village, an obligatory stopping point for walkers on their way to Compostela, the BIT of Saint-Alban sur-Limagnole is located in the very heart of the Château. When you arrive, you will not fail to be charmed by the inner courtyard decorated with pink sandstone. The BIT welcomes you :

  • From april to june : 09:00AM – 12:00PM and 01:30PM to 05:30PM monday through saturday;
  • November through march : 09:00AM – 12:00PM and 02:00PM to 05:00PM, monday through friday;
  • In july and august : 09:00AM – 12:00PM and 13:00PM to 06:00PM, monday through saturday and 09:00AM – 12:30PM on sunday.

The shop offers various local products, souvenirs and books on the Margeride and the Way of Saint James. Finally, you can also buy your fishing card or connect to WIFI free of charge.

The showrooms, including the large room on the 1er floor, are animated throughout the season by varied and high quality exhibitions, including a main exhibition in summer. Similarly, in high season, several concerts are organised in the courtyard, including the reception of the Détour du Monde festival at the end of July.

In Saint-Chély-d’Apcher

Situated in the heart of the town, on the edge of the Market Square, the BIT of Saint-Chély d’Apcher is an essential stopover to come and inform you and thus optimise your stay, between Aubrac and Margeride. The BIT welcomes you :

  • From april to june : 09:00AM – 12:30PM and 02:00PM to 05:30PM monday through saturday;
  • November through march : 09:00AM – 12:00PM and 02:00PM to 05:00PM, monday through friday;
  • In july and august : 09:00AM – 13:00PM and 14:00PM to 06:00PM, monday through saturday and 09:00AM – 12:30PM on sunday.

The vaulted showroom in the basement offers local and varied exhibitions throughout the season. A WIFI area is available in the reception hall.

The shop offers a wide range of ideas for walks and hikes on the Margeride and Aubrac rivers, on foot or by mountain bike. Fishing friends, the BIT is also a point of sale for fishing cards.

A historical trail, given free of charge, will enable you to discover on foot, starting from the BIT, the architectural curiosities and the rich history of Saint-Chély-d’Apcher.
